David WilliamsDavid W. Williams - Senior Pastor

It has been my privilege and honor to serve as the senior pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church since October of 2001. The Lord actually called us to the Lakeway area a decade ago to first serve here as the minister of youth and education. We had until that time served on the staff of the Providence Baptist Church in Augusta, GA where we started right out of college. I met my "Alabama Angel", Melody, during my senior year as a Bible major at Pensacola Christian College.  After my graduation we were married the following fall on November 11, 1989. Melody is a great wife and wonderful mother to our three very special daughters, Kayla age 16, Kerri age 14, and Kasey age 10. Melody truly enjoys serving the Lord here at Hillcrest through the music, children's, and ladies ministries. She also fulfilled a lifelong dream when she went back to college and graduated from Carson-Newman College in December 2004 and is now an outstanding third grade teacher at Russellville Intermediate School. All three of our girls are very active at Hillcrest, in school, and their different hobbies. I myself enjoy being involved in community events, rooting for Tennessee (and sometimes Georgia), reading the Citizen Tribune, anything involving U.S. History, and playing basketball, tennis, or riding bicycles. Morristown is a great place to live, serve, and raise a family. This community and our church family have been very good to us and we can certainly say that our move to the hills of East Tennessee has been a great blessing!

Doug JohnsonDoug Johnson - Associate Pastor / Director of Outreach

Doug came to Hillcrest Baptist Church in June of 2003 as Youth Minister - a capacity in which he still serves. He is a graduate of Carson Newman College and is currently attending Luther Rice Seminary. Doug and his wife, Rhonda, have two children: Ryan and Hannah.

Doug is passionate about the Word of God and has a heart for seeing people come to know Jesus personally.

Lee AkinsLee Akins - Music Minister

Lee Akins has served as Minister of music at Hillcrest Baptist Church since March 2007.  Prior to being called to Hillcrest, he served Cherokee Hills Baptist Church in Morristown as Minister of Music for 13 years.  He graduated from Carson-Newman College in 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Music with an emphasis in Piano.  Lee and his wife Mitzi have 3 children; Gracie and Joshua who live with them and Kelby who lives with Jesus.

Lee enjoys worshipping through music and counts it an honor and blessing to work with such talented people who also enjoy worship.

Kathy Bolger - Nursery Director

Kathy has been our Nursery Director since 1998, in which time, the nursery has grown and become a vital and up-to-date ministry of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Besides bed babies and toddlers, she coordinates the preschool session that occurs during our adult worship service. There are lots of fast-paced Christ-centered activities for the children to enjoy while she brings all the love and care that parents desire for their children. Her goal along with her qualified team of volunteers is to impress upon the minds of children the love of our precious savior Jesus Christ, and the love of their care givers.

She has made sure the facilities are equally adorable and safe, as well as, implementing a “beeper” system parents can feel comfortable about knowing they can be discreetly reached at any moment their child needs them. She believes whole-heartily “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6 and looks forward to seeing you and your child soon!!!
