Jesus said in John 10:10, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." As a Christ follower, husband, father, and minister of the gospel, it is my heart's desire to experience personally and share daily the abundant life found only in Jesus Christ. There is no greater joy or privilege than to serve in His Kingdom work, as the shepherd of the Hillcrest flock entrusted to my care.
I am so thankful for my beautiful wife, Melody, who has been my faithful companion in life and ministry for nearly 27 years. We have been blessed with three amazing and special daughters. Our eldest, Kayla, is married and is soon to be a practicing nurse practitioner residing in Johnson City, TN. Kerri, our middle daughter, was born with special needs. For the past eighteen years, Hillcrest Baptist Church has embraced her with all the sincere love and acceptance that any parent could desire. And then there is our sweet baby, Kasey, who is attending ETSU with the desire of becoming an occupational therapist. Each of our daughters have come to know Christ in our years of service at HBC. I may have the official title of pastor, but our entire family is called to the ministry. Our lives are full of church events, family functions, ballgames, horseback, and friends.
Personally, I enjoy civics, history, sports, and anything to do with leadership. The Lord has blessed us so very much and Morristown is a great place to live, raise a family, and serve Him!
First and foremost, I want to welcome and thank you for taking time out of your day to visit and learn more about our ministry. I am a bivocational minister serving as youth leader at Hillcrest and an employee at JTEKT Automotive. My wife, my best friend, and my biggest encourager, Casey, has continually helped me to serve God and seek His will. Casey has a huge burden for children and youth and is currently a first grade teacher at Union Heights Elementary.
My mission as a youth leader is to show charity, leadership, and guidance to the youth of Hillcrest and to our community by proclaiming the truths found in God’s Word, to promote unity and fellowship, and to lead the lost to a risen Savior.
I enjoy conversation, playing all kinds of different sports, the outdoors, technology, woodworking, and learning.
I am so glad to get the opportunity to tell you about what God is doing in my life and ministry and I hope to meet you, talk to you, and serve along side of you very soon.
I came to serve as Music Director at Hillcrest in July 2016. Since coming to Hillcrest, my wife Jodi and I along with our 3 kids Eden, Shep and Shade have truly found a home here.
Since my childhood I have always been involved in church music in some capacity and have never doubted God’s call on my life. My desire is not only to lead in worship but to engage others in worship. I truly believe that singing is a proclamation of believers declaring together in unity the power and awesomeness of God, and that God truly inhabits the praise of His people!
My life verse: “For I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.” - Habakkuk 1:5
Another veteran of the Hillcrest staff, Sharon has assisted the ministry since 2001. After graduating from E.T.S.U. she pursued a career in Engineering Technology/Construction and Interior Design, but ultimately had a desire to serve the Lord in a different capacity. She is grateful for the opportunity to minister with and to the people at Hillcrest and looks forward to the challenges and blessings each day brings.
Sharon enjoys writing tween devotionals for her young friends and nieces, frugal junking, and attempts to play golf with her husband Jack.
Kathy has been our Nursery Director since 1998, in which time, the nursery has grown and become a vital and up-to-date ministry of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Besides bed babies and toddlers, she coordinates the preschool session that occurs during our adult worship service. There are lots of fast-paced Christ-centered activities for the children to enjoy while she brings all the love and care that parents desire for their children. Her goal along with her qualified team of volunteers is to impress upon the minds of children the love of our precious Savior Jesus Christ, and the love of their care givers. She has made sure the facilities are equally adorable and safe, as well as, implementing a "beeper" system parents can feel comfortable about knowing they can be discreetly reached at any moment their child needs them.
She believes whole-heartily "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" Proverbs 22:6 and looks forward to seeing you and your child soon!!!
